ReleasesStatementsA Time for Michigan to Shine

April 1, 2020

The Great State of Michigan (as is the United States of America) is once again facing hard times. I want to remind you that Michigan has faced many hard times in the past, and we have always risen to the task, prevailed, and came out on the side of a stronger and more unified state.

Michigan has survived a Civil War that ripped at our nation’s very core. We have survived civil rights unrest, recessions, a depression, economic booms, and busts. Always, we have come together as a state, unified to fight the battles, and grew as a people.

As President Trump announced yesterday, we do have dark days ahead for our nation and state. The infection rate of this COVID-19 virus is on the increase for the time being. We have already seen Detroit City Officials, celebrities, Royalty, National Political Leaders (both in the U.S. and abroad), as well as hundreds of thousands of our citizens be afflicted with this virus.

For the time being, we need to all adhere to the recommendations of our health experts, and do what is necessary to stop this virus from doing any more damage.

I realize that many are angry that the Governor mandated the closure of restaurants, bars, gyms, casinos, and most all public gatherings of even smaller groups. There is no question that these are against the normality of our daily lifestyles. However these are not normal times for either our state or our nation.

Unfortunately, this is the only way to eradicate this plague that is sweeping across our land.

The medical reality is that the virus is spread through human contact, and now experts are learning that the virus can even spread airborne. The medical experts claim that the virus lives on metal, plastic, and other surfaces for up to 3-hours, and can live in the open air for several minutes as well. The sad truth is, this virus is claiming not just the elderly, but it has now claimed younger citizens as well. NOBODY IS IMMUNE from this killer.
With this said, I am encouraging all citizens to do as our leadership is requesting.

Do what the experts request. Stay at least 6-feet apart, do not hold gatherings of more that a couple of people. Remember to wash your hands, use sanitizers, be polite, and don’t hoard necessities, and above all else, let us take care of our neighbors.

If we all do what we are supposed to do, we can rid our nation of this virus within a couple of weeks, and we all get our lives back to normal.

Remember, we are Michiganders. We have seen worse, we have survived worse, and we can come through this together as a stronger, and even a more vibrant state if we work together.

May God Bless each of you and May God Bless Michigan and the United States.
